Transfluthrin is an ultra-fast-acting synthetic pyrethroid insecticide with very low persistence. It is widely used in the indoor environment against moths, flies, cockroaches, and mosquitoes. In fact, it is structurally similar to the organic pyrethrin, which is popularly used for its insecticidal properties. Transfluthrin is a relatively volatile substance, may cause symptoms of poisoning, such as irritation, sneezing, skin allergies, convulsions, tremor, tremor, nervousness, anxiety, and running nose.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), transfluthrin is a fast acting insecticide. It is used in household and hygiene products, mainly against flying insects, such as moths, flies, cockroaches, and mosquitoes. At present, insecticides are increasingly more frequently applied to control household pests, flies, mosquitoes, termites and other harmful insects. Thus, there is an increasing demand for transfluthrin all around the world, especially in Asia Pacific (APAC), as the local government is focusing on increasing awareness about various diseases such as air- and water- borne diseases.
Chikungunya virus is spread to people by the bite of an infected mosquito. Outbreaks have occurred in countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Mosquitoes carry various diseases, such as malaria, dengue, West Nile virus, Zika virus, and Chikungunya virus (as earlier mentioned). Thus, there is an increasing demand for transfluthrin in the Asia Pacific (APAC). Prallethrin 1.6% w/w liquid vaporizer is a repellent insecticide which is generally used for the control of mosquitoes in the household.
Transfluthrin is available in the market as 0.88% w/w liquid vaporizer. Moreover, transfluthrin-based spatial repellents are being developed for use to control vector populations that are poorly targeted by current vector control tools. Furthermore, pyrethroid-based spatial repellents have been tested in numerous studies against mosquitoes, most often with transfluthrin as the main pyrethroid repellent.
