Valves remain one of the most significant mechanical flow regulators with extensive applications in the oil & gas, water treatment, and chemicals industries

It is a device used in industries to control the amount of vapor or liquid that moves through a system. The purpose of a valve is to regulate media flow in a system so as to avoid damage to equipment or personnel that could occur due to an excessive or slow stream of liquid or gas. The valve can also be utilized to activate, stop, or regulate the movement to make the sure efficient and safe performance of the system. To understand the mechanism that is working in the gas industry, it is useful to examine its common applications in other industries. Butterfly valves, for instance, are used in the water industry to regulate the pressure of the water in the dams.

These devices are designed to regulate the pressure of the fluid flowing by closing or opening depending upon the current pressure level. In the oil and gas industry, ball valves refer to a type of safety valve that has a seat and stem. Gate valves are typically used in applications in which the flow is required to be restricted or controlled. These valves are used in applications that require the force of gravity to be applied on a product, such as when flushing garbage disposal. Rotary vented valves are typically used in applications where the force of the stream is directed away from the application in question.
