Snacking on the go requires a different sort of package to allow consumers to take the snack with them. Breakfast products are the fastest growing segment in the FMCG sector. Significant growth in the FMCG sector is expected to boost demand for on-the-go breakfast packaging. According to India Brand Equity Foundation, FMCG market in India is expected to grow at a CAGR of 27.86 per cent and is expected to reach US$ 103.70 billion by 2020 from US$ 52.75 billion in FY18. The on-the-go breakfast packaging market targets convenience, value, premium, and customized products. Rigid folding boxes and flexible packaging solutions are main solutions that manufacturers focus on.
Increasing demand for prepackaged foods is expected to boost traction towards on-the-go breakfast packaging. For instance, according to the U.S Department of Agriculture, export of prepared food from U.S. increased from US$ 5, 849 million in 2015 to US$ 6,682 million in 2019. Moreover, Snacking is replacing traditional mealtime eating and is fuelling a rise in innovative small portion food products and most consumers nowadays prefer 'on-the-go' lifestyle. This means they're constantly looking for food options that are easier to grab, hold, eat, or carry. Such trend is also expected to boost demand for on-the-go breakfast packaging solutions.
