Digital Forensics Has Become An Essential Field Of Study With A Rising Number Of Cyber-Intrusions And Malware Attacks

Digital forensics (also known as digital forensic science or digital information science) is the field of recovering and evaluating digital information from computers or other electronic media. It is a key element of many modern law enforcement agencies around the world and is commonly used in criminal investigations. Digital forensics has resulted in major revelations about cybercrime and internet fraud, helping to bring criminals to justice. The ability to analyze digital data has given law enforcement officials and other stakeholders’ greater ability to identify, prevent, and respond to crimes and fraud. Cyber-attacks have become a major problem in almost all countries. In the first half of 2020, Mexico 9.9 million malware attacks registered in Mexico.

Digital Forensics is rapidly evolving into one of the most important fields in the 21st Century. In this new frontier of investigation, experts utilize specialized software to quickly analyze large amounts of digital data. This rapidly increasing area of digital forensics is expanding at a rapid pace. There are many applications for digital forensics, which span a number of different specialties. Computer Forensics experts are often involved in one or more phases of investigations. During the early stages of an investigation, computer forensics technicians recover physical evidence such as hard drives, mobile phone records, e-mail evidence, and more.

Digital Forensics examiners will often work on multiple cases at a time. They should possess accurate, thorough, and accurate knowledge of the particular areas of digital forensics they will be handling. It is extremely important for investigators to compile and present all evidence they collect during investigations. This evidence can play an important role in either convicting the perpetrators of crimes or in assisting with mitigating defenses in court. Many universities have started offering learning programs in the field of digital forensics. Recently, in October 2019, the Bern University of Applied Sciences BHC launched a new Master of Advanced Studies in Digital Forensics & Cyber Investigation (MAS DFCI).
