Granola, though simple and easy to make, is rich in taste, and for that reason, many people find they like other healthy breakfasts or that they are unable to get through a full day of eating it. The granola recipe has evolved over the years into a number of different types and styles of cereal bars or cookies, granola bars or wafers, and even waffles. The trail mix version, which was invented by a traveling carnival worker, contains dried fruits, nuts, and raisins. For instance, in September 2021, Michele’s Granola partnered with a non-profit community focused on nutrition education, Whole Cities Foundation, to introduce Small Business Challenge to help local food businesses in the U.S.
There are several different ways to cook and serve this very popular breakfast food. In its most simple form, it is just a bowl of raisins or browned nuts seasoned with salt and spices. It can also be combined with nuts and/or raisins to make a cereal bar or to make tortillas for a snack. Making a granola bar is easy and doesn't take long. It can also double as a great, healthy snack to accompany a nice lunchtime salad or dinner, or as a delicious post-workout treat.
Granola can also be used to make whole grain breads, muffins and rolls. These products are healthier than traditional white flour breads since they contain whole grains, which are rich in healthy carbohydrates. They also have more complex carbohydrates than refined white flour foods, such as B vitamins, which are important for energy and long-term health.
A number of high amounts of fiber are present in granola. This provides an energy boost for most people and helps with digestion. The crunchy, hard feel of the granola has a satisfying crunch that makes it a perfect ingredient for high amounts of cereal in any meal or snack. The best way to eat granola is still to spread it onto a cracker or small piece of toast for a quick energy burst. However, the sweet, gooey flavor of the honey in many granola products makes it even easier to eat.
