Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Manufacturers have witnessed high demand with rising applications in underwater survey and search & rescue operations

A remotely piloted vehicle is an autonomous underwater vehicle that operates under the control of a human being. It can navigate a waterway, drive and perform many of the same activities as a "real" boat or vehicle. This technology is not new; however, its advances in computer technology and in the application of smart materials have made it practical to manufacture such a vehicle. Many boaters are wary of the potential dangers of autonomous underwater vehicles, so much so that some jurisdictions have passed laws prohibiting them from operating or using them. Others have concerns about the legal responsibility of someone controlling such a vehicle.

In many ways, an autonomous underwater vehicle behaves similar to a remote-control boat or other vehicles. It can navigate and drive on the surface of the ocean, although it can also operate within and above the seafloor. The vehicles can function autonomously or with some human help, depending on the complexity of the task. For instance, many units contain pre-programmed navigation systems and emergency protocols to assist in the rescue or protection of personnel in case of an accident or emergency.

In some ways, autonomous underwater vehicle manufacturers or UAV is similar to other remotely piloted vehicles in that it requires a human for its operation. It is important, however, that humans remain in the loop whenever it comes to operations inside and above the water. When operating autonomously, autonomous underwater vehicle manufacturers can make decisions based on the condition of the environment, including the physical features of the seabed, its proximity to a rescue or other resources, and other factors. If the situation requires human input, the operator must still continue to provide support and assistance. In present times, the military is also looking to invest in these types of autonomous underwater vehicles.
