UV tapes are well-known to display excellent adhesive properties, with superior thermal conductivity, and a wide variety of uses. And due to their flexible, low-cost structure, UV tapes have proven very useful in a range of manufacturing applications. UV tape has found its way into every type of production from household packaging and containers to car parts and automotive coatings. In fact, UV tape's versatile and cost-effective performance makes it a primary component in a wide range of production systems from large scale industrial manufacturing to small run-of-the-mill home projects. For instance, in May 2021, a major manufacturer of carbon fiber products in Germany, Teijin Carbon Europe, launched carbon fiber UD tapes which offer benefits such as inflammable nature as well as resistance against the solvents and chemicals.
A popular application for UV tapes is in the area of adhesive sealing. Whether sealing sheets of plywood or thick plastic pipes, UV tapes offer a simple, cost-effective method of sealing materials together. By using an easily applied UV tape, the sheet-like materials can be positioned more tightly, and the required joint area-ships given adequate exposure to UV light. By bonding surfaces together, a large range of adhesives, such as epoxy resins, epoxy polymers and polyurethane, can be sealed together, forming a hard-wearing and protective layer that's as long-lasting as it is convenient. UV dicing tapes, on the other hand, are used as an inexpensive alternative to abrasive sanding, abrasive adhesives and silicon carbide wheels.
Perhaps the most well-known use of UV tapes involves the fastening of sheet metal together. Since UV irradiation is responsible for the chemical transformation of plastics into a conductive substance, it makes perfect sense that UV dicing tape can also be used in the area of mechanical attachment, such as connecting pieces of tubing or connecting pieces of piping. These types of fasteners require the application of mechanical force, and a UV dicing tape with a high UV concentration can provide the friction needed to bond the two pieces together, creating a strong joint connection. The application of the tape is also useful in the assembly and disassembly process, especially in highly stressed parts where high tensile strength is a necessity.
