High Prevalence of Thyroid Augments Growth of India Thyroid Function Test

High prevalence of thyroid is expected to propel growth of India thyroid function test market. According to the study, ‘Trends in thyroid cancer incidence in India’, published in May 2018 in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, the incidence rate of thyroid cancer in India in women increased from 2.4 to 3.9 and in men from 0.9 to 1.3, a relative increase of 62% and 48% respectively during 2004/05 to 2013/14.

The thyroid disease is dysfunction of the butterfly-shaped gland at the base of the neck (thyroid). The most commonly used laboratory test to diagnose thyroid disease is the thyroid-stimulating Hormone (TSH) test. Clinical laboratory testing for thyroid disorders is performed to identify the thyroid function test results. In particular, a thyroid-stimulating Hormone test is used in the diagnosis of thyroid cancer.

A tests in the India thyroid function test help the doctor to identify whether there are necessary procedures or tests that need to be done. If the doctor suspects that low thyroid levels may be behind the symptoms that are presenting, then a thyroid function test is performed. There are some common symptoms of thyroid disease that need to be confirmed by laboratory testing. Signs of thyroid dysfunction include: weight gain, depression, fatigue, poor appetite, muscle weakness, and swelling in the ankles, legs, or feet. Impaired thyroid function can result from: hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and hyperactive thyroid.

The doctor will determine whether thyroid function tests are needed to rule out hypothyroidism or diagnose the patient with hyperthyroidism. During these tests, healthcare providers can find out how well the thyroid functions. They can also find out how well the body absorbs and uses sugar and what percentage of an individual's thyroid hormone is produced and used. With these tests, healthcare providers may be able to make an accurate diagnosis of hyperthyroidism early on and prescribe the proper treatment.
