Geopolymer is being widely used in various industries including aerospace, automobile, and container sector

Geopolymer is a versatile material that has numerous practical applications and has developed a lot of desirable physical characteristics. It is composed of various complex polymer blends which can be formed into strong and lightweight materials. It is also capable of high tensile strength and compressive strength. The physical properties of Geopolymer material have enabled its wide range of application and have been in wide use in a number of industries. It has become one of the most important building materials and is used in aerospace, automobile, boat, and container industries.

Geopolymer is inorganic, meaning that it is composed of inorganic elements. Polymers can be of different types with each having its own specific physical characteristics. Geopolymer is comprised of many types of silicates and ionic compounds. Geopolymer is covalent in nature and exhibits exceptional electro-physical and chemical behavior. Ceramic and alumino-fluoro-ammonium blends are a commonly found component of some Geopolymer blends.

Geopolymer is manufactured through the process of transmission, where large particles of the material are deposited on a fiber. The particles of the material are then mixed with a liquid carrier solution, which in turn produces the finished product. There are two main types of fibers produced through this process; polyethylene fibers and polypropylene fibers. They are the most commonly used fibers. Polyethylene fibers are coated on both sides with a resin that serves as a protective layer against abrasion and moisture. Geopolymer is known for its extreme durability and tensile strength. It is commonly used in aerospace industries as tie rods, nose cones, wing nuts, and a variety of other fastening components. It is also used in the construction of marine ships as wheel hubs, rope ladders, and windlasses. Recently, in November 2020, NTPC-Ramagundam developed geopolymer aggregate from fly ash.
