Vaginal sling methods are used all across the world, especially in regions such as the US, UK, and Italy. The vaginal sling method is a kind of surgical operation typically used to remedy incontinent women from having excessive involuntary urine leakage while carrying our daily chores including sexual intercourse. Urinary incontinence is often the most embarrassing medical condition for women. This condition causes the involuntary leakage of urine during sexual activity.
In this type of procedure, a slender flexible tube or a strip of cloth is inserted inside the vagina of the patient. This plastic vaginal sling is later removed by the surgeon. After removing it, the surgeon makes a small incision in the front part of the belly. This opening is later closed with a small stitched incision and sutures are used to bind it. This form of vaginal sling allows the mother to deliver the child without the fear of incontinent tissues. This is a good procedure for women who do not want to bear large amounts of pain.
A vaginal sling does not result in any major or minor complications. The only complications that patients can encounter are bleeding and infection. The blood loss is minimal and can easily be washed out after some hours. The only potential infection that patients can face is that there is a small risk of infection in the urethra, which the patient will need to consult the surgeon if there is indeed a big problem. In regions such as the US, the prevalence of gynecology hospitals has increased the treatments related to vaginal slings. For instance, according to US News Health, currently, there are around 257 hospitals related to Gynecology and Obstetrics.
Vaginal incision through the use of a vaginal sling is a safe and efficient delivery option compared to other methods of delivery like Cesarean section. This procedure is very beneficial for those who have problems with their pelvic floor muscles. This muscle relaxes when someone engages in sexual activity and hence it is susceptible to injury and tearing. This reduces the sensation which then results in reduced sexual pleasure and an inability to reach orgasm.
