This meant that these mice had no need for the assistance of any additional helper cells, including those from their own skin cells. In the same way, artificial sperm injected into a female egg will successfully fertilize it with the right amount of male sperm alone. This has resulted in the creation of the world's first in-vitro fertilization center, enabling medical professionals to perform complex assisted reproductive technologies on human egg cells.

One of the reasons why artificial sperm is becoming so popular in infertility treatments is due to the fact that it has been shown to increase female fertility significantly more than sperm from the same person. Furthermore, the increase in female fertility produced significant results, even in cases where all other efforts to increase fertility had failed. The global artificial sperm market is now worth billions each year. However, due to ethical concerns surrounding embryonic stem cell research, some companies are avoiding the procedure altogether.
