A tipper trailer is an off-road heavy goods vehicle with a tall tipper body on the back. More commonly known as dump trucks, tipper trailers are used to assist the construction industry to complete large projects safely, quickly and efficiently. The name "tipper" derives from the fact that the tipper body of the truck contains the implements for lifting heavy objects, such as trolley ropes, crane cages and other lifting devices.
A tipper trailer is usually attached to a road vehicle, and its tires are fitted with pneumatic tires to make it capable of traversing difficult terrain. Various companies are focused on launching new products. In May 2021, Italy-based IVECO S.p.A. launched new variants to DRIVEAWAY bodybuilder program for Daily. The 3.5t Daily Business 35C14H Caged Tipper includes 2.3-litre F1A 134bhp, six-speed manual gearbox, twin rear wheels on a 3,750mm wheelbase.
While most tippers are powered by internal combustion engines, there are numerous truck models available in the market that are powered by diesel engines. Diesel tippers have a longer driving range than fuel efficient gas tippers, but they have higher fuel costs. Consequently, it makes more sense to combine fuel-efficient trucks with tippers to facilitate long-distance hauling.
Truck tail lights - A tipper trucks' double tail lights are designed to assist drivers during nighttime road driving. Tail lights of the larger trucks have turn signals as well as brake lights. On the other hand, smaller trucks have no turn signals and brake lights, which make them safer for unloading cargo at night. However, larger trucks tend to move faster when the lights are on, whereas smaller vehicles do not. Therefore, both the size and speed of the trucks should be taken into consideration during transportation.
Hydraulic bucket: In general, bucket trucks are fitted with a flexible hydraulic bucket that can be raised or lowered as required during unloading or loading. On other occasions, a hydraulic bucket is replaced by a tipper body. The hydraulic bucket is fixed on the bed of the truck, while the tipper body fits onto the bed. The bucket is set up perpendicular to the ground, and its lifting power comes from a winch mechanism, which raises or lowers the bucket on a hydraulic system. The bucket also features side tanks, which accommodate the fuel, as well as hydraulic fluid. These tanks are removable and may be topped off with fuel or fluids, without disrupting the truck.
Tipper Body System: One important reason for using a truck-mounted body system is to improve the truck's overall visibility on the road. Most construction sites require good road-oriented visibility, which is provided by the tipper body. The rigid design eliminates side knock and avoids obstacles on the sides of the pickup truck, improving visibility on the road at all times. It is also designed in such a way that it provides a safe driving experience even when driving through foggy conditions.
