Sanitation vehicles are basically mobile sanitation trucks that are used for carrying waste materials, such as human waste, oil, or other solid wastes, in a safe and hygienic manner. They have the capacity to carry large volumes of refuse, which can be used for carrying out various applications. These include cleaning up open castles, roadside accidents, demolition of buildings, etc. The vehicles are also used to carry refuse collection, where they transport huge loads of rubbish from one place to another.
Sanitation trucks are generally placed on the roadsides to collect waste materials, such as human waste and rubbish, from local communities. Some of these vehicles also travel to industrial and commercial communities for the purpose of 'purging', where solid wastes are accumulated to ensure cleanliness and hygiene in the environment. There are many manufacturers that provide a wide range of sanitation vehicles for different purposes. The most common types include pressure washing vehicles, air conditioning vehicles, flatbed vehicles, wheelchair van/s, mobile servicing trucks, etc.
The sanitation vehicles are witnessing significant demand due to several applications. Some of these applications include collecting stormwater runoff from storm gutters, streamflow, downpipes, etc., which are then transported in waste tanks for proper disposal. Other than these, there are also specialized uses such as vehicle recycling, which involves the construction of new vessels and the reuse of existing ones. Most sanitary trucks will use an automatic air conditioning system for the exterior as well as a ventilation system to keep the interior comfortable. These systems make sure that a professional company is always there to run diagnostics and ensure the safety and well-being of all employees while they are on the job. Recently, in March 2021, J&M Sanitation, a U.S.-based sanitation company, deployed two all-electric Class 8 refuse trucks.
