An Offshore Remote Operated Vehicle or remotely operated sub-marine vehicle is usually a tethered underwater vehicle. These types of vehicles have many uses and are used on a daily basis by divers and military personnel. The equipment used in a military submarine is generally classified as military hardware. Most often this equipment is used for operations to protect the Navy, U.S. Army, Air Force, and the Marines. This equipment will also come in very handy for search and rescue operations after natural disasters and large scale civil emergencies.

The most popular use for an offshore remote operated vehicle is as a remotely operated vehicle or remotely piloted vehicle. Some types of these vehicles are known as LPR (LOS), which stands for Light Reconnaissance Vehicles. These types of vehicles are commonly used to capture photographs and video footage of an accident or disaster area.
